While the Supreme Court decision on marriage equality was expected, there was always the possibility it could have gone the other way. There are some staunchly anti-gay justices on the Supreme Court, and there was never a guarantee that Justice Kennedy would rule as he did. But it was five-to-four once again. Conservatives against human rights, Liberals pro-human rights, and one wild-card.
As predicted, Conservative Christians have gone off their nut in the wake of this ruling. The most insane comments have come from Republican presidential candidates: men who are SUPPOSED to keep their religious ideology out of their politics. They have made it clear that they have no intention of upholding the constitution—ALL men (and women) are created equal. The biggest offenders are no surprise: The Huckster, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal—the usual suspects.
