In another frustrating and agonizing version of Here we F*&ing Go Again; another sick-and-twisted déjà vu, we get word of yet another mass shooting within the United States of America. This time in Lafayette, Louisiana. A gunman walked into a theater, and twenty minutes into the movie, stood up and opened fire. As of this writing two people are dead (as well as the gunman) and nine injured. Though there were at least two people in critical condition.
After the shooting, Governor Bobby Jindal, a Christian, tweeted:
I'm on my way to Lafayette right now. Please say a prayer for the victims at Grand Theatre and their families. He then went on to say:
I know a lot of us are horrified and shocked. I think I speak for every mom and dad who just wants to hug their kids.Yet the one thing this Christian Governor is never going to do is talk about the instrument used to create such carnage. Nor will any of his fellow Republican candidates, themselves Christians. Why not? Because… Freedom.
At this stage of the game I’m no longer sure that guns are the issue. I think Christians are the issue; and their bizarre love-affair with guns. So I’m reviving a diary I wrote not long ago to show that Jesus would have hated guns: he would have hated the NRA, and he would have hated Governor Jindal and the rest of the Republican candidates for not addressing the issue of guns head on in an effort to protect life.
